This for the most part comes in 3 forms. Logistics, medical and political/religious differences.
Some are easily prevented some are not.
At the most fundamental level a 5 year old can be isolated from their father by the father moving away or the family moving away without the father being told about it.
Or course family members passing isolates one from them.
Medical reasons can come in a number of forms and it does make a difference in family relationships and can effect a families overall dynamic. If a person gets cancer if they become arseholes and demand more help than they need then they might be cut off due to something thought of as the vampire effect.
Sometimes family rallies round and all the support needed is provided. Depends on the families dynamic.
Cancer, accidents, additcion issues, mental health issues all have a factor in this.
Sometimes it’s over a few quid.
How many times has religion/politics become an issue between family? Romeo and Juliet!
It’s been here forever and always will. Perhaps the most preventable method of isolation and perhaps the most prevalent.
The Troubles in the 80s with the Provisional Irish Republican Army being freedom fighters/terrorists (I met people on both sides of that divide and others of other struggles, it’s been interesting to say the least) is a good example. If you were Catholic and fell in love with a Protestant… you might be asking for isolation. Religion tends to do that in some regards but politics does to.
I’ve a few pals I share this motto with. “You’ll never walk alone.” One is an orphan. Another has substance abuse issues which isolates them some. Another is in an abusive relationship, who is not allowed friends.
We make contact as we can. I’m self isolated from my own family for perhaps personal and also religious reasons, it’s grey area and people make up their own mind… when is disconnection needed or wanted?
But isolation is a social issue and perhaps getting worse. To a degree family is becoming less relevant and politics and religion are. That’s a dark avenue.
The net is somewhat to blame for this to.
Family is everything and isolation is an issue.
We should try not make it because of politics and religion.
That is easily preventable.
The people who will colonize Mars have to train to deal with this issue, for years.
We’re not living on Mars. Yet.
It will be conquered.
We never walk alone.
Why not together.
And so shouldn’t.
Isolating is better avoided as is possible.
