What is the best solution for unemployment and poverty? More jobs. How do we get more jobs?
More entrepeneurs is the solution.
You need people to come up with business ideas, innovate or resolve local constraints to allow innovative technologies in, expand and then seek employees.
There’s an argument to help big corporations have tax breaks to attract foriegn investment, that’s an excuse to pay more to millioniares to exploit not lift out of poverty.
Invest in infarstructure is the way out of poverty is another one that is BS in this day of digital technology and online jobs.
I have heard the argument about improving women’s education is the best way to lift a country or community out of poverty, it works, and of course we it should be done but it isn’t the best answer.
NGOs claim this, they go into communties, they improve womens rights to education, they seek to get the women into the workplace and through years of painstaking work, women end up in positions of power after grauating college and taking on careers, and it’s true. Through this procedure over a generation or two, many communties have been brought out of poverty. Corruption decreases, social services improve as well as education and things do improve. Over time.
But how much cost and effort was it to the NGOs? To the community? They went through a generation of suffer to adjust.
Empower the Entrepeneurs and it’ll happen in a fraction of the time.
Imagine the US during the gold rush and also discovery of oil. It was a fever pitch of adventures who didn’t know what they were getting into. Now we’d say they were entrepeneurs, I would like to call them Merchant Princes and say they made America great.
The East India Trading Company did the same for the Dutch Empire.
The Merchat Princes of GB made the Brittish empire.
I’ve never been an employee. I have only ever employed. Please trust me, my whole working life whenever I see a news report that the economy is slowing or unemployment is rising, I think to myself, ‘cool the labour market will be cheaper, I can select better employee’s for a lower salary and profits are looking up this year’, it is a chance for the adventurous to get involved and do their thing.
Trust me, there is always more work to do, and there’s always folk willing to do it. But what we lack is the hustlers, the ones willing to commit to a chance, willing to push boundaries. Be an inspitation to others. Bite the bullet and take on the responsibility of leadership.
We need to live in a world where ‘I can’t get a job’ turns into ‘If I can’t get a job I may have to start a business of my own’
And we’ve AI doing lawyer work and robots doing all sorts from manufactoring, agroculture and even robotic girlfirends and self driving cars, thats a lot of drivers and sex workers now out of work so what?…
We’ve now got robots that need repaired, we’ve now got AI Agent managers needed (people who come to your house and fix your AI tech), again we need more programmers than ever, so more jobs are in the pipeline, but we need the Merchant Princes.
Now is the best time in history to create jobs than to try find one.
Look into James Clavells novel Tai Pan, looking into the character of the protangonist Drik Straun as an example, I think it is a worthy part of anyones education who wants to be successful as an entrepeneur.
The terms all easily swap out depending on too many factors, but pirate, rebel, adevturer, merchant prince, trader, entrepeneur, or even just amitious is a maket everyone should consider. Especially if there’s ‘no jobs’.
There’s certainly enough work to be done, who up for stepping up to the mantle and being a leader.
Now is the time.
