The rise of strongman rulers and their growing enthusiastic cult-like followers is a growing trend I do not like.
Here we go again, another righteous march.
Trump and Putin have in common a lust for power, disregard for the rule of law, and a contemptuous view of human life. Hitler spoke for himself.
The only thing their followers seem to hold in common is an enthusiastic see no evil, hear no evil devotion for them, which history tells us gives rise to tyrants and cults. They also seem to harbour discord with any free press and academia.
The ability to deny reality is becoming rampant. Fake science! Fake news! They are self-contradictive terms and shouldn’t be in common use with any sincerity. You have to delude yourself to be convinced that science and news are fake.
Science is facts. The press, mostly, informs folk of the news (aka new things that happened, but in the plural, NEWs). Ignore the opinions, sound bites, and tabloids and subscribe to a better news service if your view of the press is a dim one.
Anyone who selects one of these strongmen as their leader and then buries their head in the sand to run with a ‘that’s just the way it is’ attitude is whistling past the graveyard of history.
They’re moral prostitutes who claim draining the swamp is a good idea.
I won’t stand on the precipice of final solution ideologies.
I have heard some Trumpets and Putinists mention in passing Hilter wasn’t all bad.
The other one is ‘he might have been evil but he did show genius’.
Ironic Trump sees some genius in Putin.
There’s an unsettling amount of similarity between Hitler, Putin and Trump.
But the thing that concerns me the most is there is little to distinguish the Trumpets, the Putinist and neo-Naiz’s of the world. They all stink of weak, stupid pack animals howling for the leader they devote themselves to.
Any politico of any land only deserves distant provisional approval from voters. When your followers end up seeing no evil and hearing no evil your in the land of tyranny and cults.
Is there a fix for this stupidity? It’s the same for every stupidity: education.
There is more hope for us in the fields of academia and science than will ever be available in politics or any cult/religion.
There is hope in science, rationale common sense, and cooperative endeavour.
