Covid-19 has shown peoples true colours in a lot of ways.
With our leaders reactions being constantly judged and our relationships being tested as we self-isolate we face 3 fears. The panic. Covid-19. And the question of, ‘who are we really?’ – and there’s some shits and some saints coming out in the wash.
Who’s stock pilling and who’s looking out for their neighbor?
Which billioniares are reaching out for public funding (Branson)!
And which ones are offering respirators on the condition they be used and not stock pilled (Musk)!
Who is setting up local shopping cooperatives and who’s having a bbq on the beech? If you get it and are asked ‘How many people have you been in contact with in the last 14 days?’ What is your answer going to be!
Which churches are observing social distancing and which are flaunting it? Know thy church by it’s actions and not words in times like this.
Remember the more we cater to tackling the threat of the virus aka manage it in our locale, deal with panic and NOT breach the peace we are true hero’s. To the degree we flaunt it we are letting one and all down. Next door and across the world.
Right now to some degree we are borderless, but borders are now more important!
Why do we act like this – lets do it ourselves, when together would make it better all round.
Prejudice. Instilled in us by narrow minded people who insist ‘we’ are better than ‘them’ and rarely think of us as a united species.
The care lot and key workers are being shown now for the true value they are.
That should be acknowledge henceforth.
Those who flaunt it are the selfish doomed. If not by Covid-19 then by the aftermath. As those who stood by their neighbor and those who stock pilled will be remembered in our collective psyche.
This really is a chance for one and all to show who they truly are.
A note on china: They were the first epicenter and also the first to map the RNA of the virus. This was then shared internationally so other countries could benefit. A ban on wet markets has begun.
A note on the US: ‘Ignore thy neighbor and take it all for ourselves’. Get a leader – you don’t have one. You have a child your tolerating and sort of looking after. Someone confiscate his phone for a month.
A note on Ferry Go-For: We’re going to see more community out of all this. 600+ people signed up to a local fb group in the area I live in within days of the lockdown. It is heart warming to see.
A note on people in general: Where do we go from here? We know now how much we actually need Ant and Dec, Eastenders, footballers and how much we do NOT need to go to a work place to answer a phone, work a spreadsheet… so, yeah where do we go from here because this clearer air and quieter streets is nicer.
At the end of the day once all is said and done I hope we look back on this era as the time when the deluded who doubled down on their bets are see for what they are, the selfish doomed themselves.
