The idea of self-governed communes is based more in embracing higher levels of decency than adhering to society norms and any fads of the time.
While there is a general idea of rejecting society norms this should not be taken as a chaotic unruly existence.
The idea is the commune gives a person the sense of belonging and inspiration that one does not have to be ruled.
Rules would be replaced by trust.
Governance becomes assistance.
Justice becomes judgement.
Upset and conflict are resolved through arbitration and deliberate evil is quickly resolved or removed.
One massive advantage of a commune is the current level of western democracy can be practised and exercised on almost every decision the commune makes by direct vote.
I would think a mores of guidance would suit better than a statute book.
Key issues should be addressed.
For example it should be acknowledged individual boundaries are important and breaking these down is the first sign of manipulation.
Unlocked doors would be good and a lack of sticky fingers.
There should be more a lack of room for greed and indecency than regulations for or against them.
If each member was asked to put their own input to the groups mores guides, mines would be this:
Emotional maturity is valued and conflict is considered a healthy avenue for irrational acts so a efficient means to settle disputes should exist.
A means to deal with any adversity to the commune should exist with the alpha calling the shots.
A committee of elders should exist which could gain say any alpha persona who would otherwise have the groups backing.
Committee decisions would not be subject to the alphas agreement.
Committee members would be selected on being of known common sense and relative success.
Alphas would be of known good snap judgements. A trustable person who does not seek power over others.
