Let’s be honest it’s not just a bloody cool series of film and one of the most massive commercial franchises to have ever existed in the entertainment industry but it’s now also an actual religious movement.

More and more people every year subscribe and join in and start their own path to become a JEDI. And take it all quite seriously to. And why no?

I think a blind faith in some aspect of the ether world and some degree of devotion to it, perfectly describes any religion. Each is only ultimately a path to a feeling of self worth and belonging, who’s to decide which path another should follow.

Lord of the Rings has a religious following also. It’s a quite quaint affair as one would expect. Very un controversial and out of the lime light. You have to find them, they will not find you. They’re not at all secretive or exclusive they just exist there in the background and to join it’s expected that you are a fan of Tolkien to some degree I would imagine.

But they have Bishops, the robes the ceremonies and by all accounts take it all quite seriously.

Even Robert Heinlein who wrote the famous classic novel of Stranger in a Strange land ended up with perhaps a slightly more cult following. They tend towards free love and are a bit anti-marriage so it ends up with a twinge of sex cult to it.

But it’s not too much different than the Raelians who believe in aliens and practice open relationships and free love within their order. Very open. Welcome journalists to their yearly nudists catch up events/ceremonies. And it’s all openly discussed.

Now the flat earthers are having a revival. Why not. Terry Pratchet did make a good cause for it.

I think one and all can agree, the world of make believe is the world of make believe. Why no have a faith eh?
