The Influencer Vs the Leverager

August 30, 2018

Influencers encourage like a carrot to a donkey. Leveragers use the stick to beat a donkey into work. It’s a key difference and a fine line.

One inspires or gives promise of a dream the other drives one from some perceived or actual fear created by the leverager.

If you can see the qualities of a person and want to help them in achieving that then you are an empowerer and a positive influence, so long as it is not conditional. As soon as you attach conditions your applying a lever to that persons life that you control… what can you influence in their life? If it’s all of it your a slave master. I don’t like them.

People should be encouraged to be them, not be a version of them that fits into whats agreeable for everyone else. And especially not with any threats attached to it.

If you don’t become the son/daughter we want you to be then your getting cut off… how many tales of woe have erupted out of such stupidity? Too many. But that’s leverage at it’s worst, parents using the threat of withdrawl of their support and love unless said child follows such and such a path. All too common and sick as muck.

In my book, if your an influencer (or inspirer) then fair play. If your into sales play fair, as soon as your being coercive you’ve crossed the line. If you need to have leverage over those around you then you need help.

It’s a sick frame of mind of the self insecure in this world.

It better to be happy in ones own skin and encourage others honestly in their pursuits.

That is the way to happiness.
