Each of these have their own associated personality. Some mix and some don’t. When mixed unknown results can be expected. When taken on their own a predictable outcome can be expected.
When one says something is taken it is normally assumed that drugs are being referred to out of the above three but the term applies equally. One does not have to involve oneself in any of them and to do so is a personal choice when it comes to lifestyle choices.
(Draft, infant initiation ceremonies, like christenings, and medical emergencies excepted).
To anyone addicted to any of these vices I would say ‘you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make them drink’ applies.
And they are vices/choices one makes that could perhaps be avoided and they are all to some degree addictive and a prop for life.
Military and religious personnel get just as much as a hit from their endeavors as an addict of anything does. Some pick the arts or a charity and some pick drugs, religion or the military and frankly the arts and charity do more good and less killing than the other 3.
People have dies in the name of art and charity but it is never an expected outcome. Some would argue religions don’t kill people and I’d advise you to try convince a Jihadist of that.
Politics is suppose to be a non-self interested group that cares for the affairs of one and all but we all to often see special interests weigh in and buy our leaders on too often a basis. Or are struck down due to corruption.
Life in the limelight of excitement and leaving ones mark as an immortal hero in the world is a heady calling for one and all fraught with hardship and pitfalls.
It’s got to the stage now that americans take speed and fly over middle countries dropping bombs. Jihadists take heroin and blow themselves up in concert grounds or drive vans into crowds.
All in the name of ‘good’.
It nuts and time to change it.
