Solidarity

To rule is to serve and carries responsibility and freedom of movement. Sensibly so.

A wolf pack will always travel in this manner.

The old or weak travel in the front. Followed by the four strongest. The last four bar the last are also strong. The middle ones are always protected and includes the young. The leader follows the pack and will correct any wolf who is out of line.

He is the only one without someone at his back for a reason. He is the alpha male.

Why is this important – survival.

To my knowledge no world leader has ever gone through customs or had their passport checked.

A girlfriend of mine years back told me a story. She was a journalist working in Afghanistan and she was always somewhat of a feminist and I was happy to support her in this of course. She made a friend in Afghanistan who was a leader of the feminist movement there.

One day they went to the market together and her friend walked 10 feet behind her husband with the kids – always.

She took it to mean he’d subjugated her into a position of being the more submissive and less worthy.

When they got to the market the husband took the kids to go on a tour of the local toy stalls and the ladies grabbed a seat in a local cafe.

While chatting away about some gossip my ex said ‘Can I ask, if your so progressive and for womens rights, why do you still adhere to this ancient tradition of walking behind your husband with the kids all the time?’

To me her reply was priceless and sums up our world in a way.

Her reply was: ‘My husband it doing his duty. It’s not an ancient tradition, our old government now blow up things we need and from the 1980s we’ve had to worry about land mines from Russia and now we also must protect ourselves from land mines from the UK and US as well.’

‘My husband is brave, he respects me and I will always look after him.’

I think world heads of state can and should be doing a much better job of being rulers.
